  • Cab view of the JR Iida Line from Ina-Fukuoka Station to Sawando Station. This is a sequel to my previous upload • 飯田線前面展望 上片桐→伊那福岡 <Cabv... , and the train I'm riding on is the same. The weather was clear when I departed, but by this time it was completely cloudy. That's a bit disappointing. The Iida Line runs through the Ina Valley, with the Akaishi Mountains on the right and the Kiso Mountains on the left. The valley is wide and bright, but has many small undulating slopes, and the tracks have small ups and downs and sharp curves. If this were modern times, the tracks would be elevated and long straight lines would continue. This is the difference in technology between today and about 80 years ago.

Interesting, you've got the afternoon high school 3:00 PM[1500] pickup train! Since this is a real country interurban,it does get overlooked, but its a real necessity in those rural areas! Add the scenery, and the hill and dale layout, makes that mundane line rather interesting! Thanks for the time and energy, you spent documenting this obscure operation! Thank you 😇 😊!

This time, I traveled using a special ticket that was on sale for a limited time only, which said, "If it's a local train, we can go anywhere in a day for 2,400 yen." I was able to see scenery that I would not be able to see if I were using an express train. It was a bit painful at the end, because all the trains I took were local trains until I got home.

Thank you for another segment of train ride in inner Japan. Looks like lot high school students got off their class at the time of filming this segment. I also observed that the area this line passes through is more populated and urbanized, thus you see less vegetation and greenery. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this long train ride. Again thank you.

Japanese students are on their long summer vacation, but in this region, the winters are cold, so the summer holidays may be short. Either way, it's a good feeling to ride the train and feel its lively atmosphere. Thank you for your comment.
